What the Application Should Include

During each year, the Trustee will send a letter to the financial administrator of every high school in Walla Walla County. This letter describes the availability of scholarships through the Trippeer Foundation and how students interested in receiving scholarships can submit an application for consideration by the Trustee. The letter also will include all important deadlines for submission of the applications.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

ASAP after Jan 1 each year Letters will be sent to all Walla Walla High Schools notifying them of the Trippeer Scholarship Fund and how students can apply.
 
April 30, 2024 By this date, a completed application package must be e-mailed or postmarked to the Trippeer Foundation.
 
May 15, 2024 By this date, all applicants who have successfully submitted a complete application will be notified and an interview will be arranged.
 
May or June 2024 Interviews will be conducted most likely via Zoom during May or June 2024.
 

CRITERIA

To be eligible for a Trippeer Foundation scholarship, all applicants (1) must be students or graduates of a high school in Walla Walla, Washington, and (2) must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted by a four-year accredited university or college. In making their final determination for who receives a scholarship, the Trustees will also consider:
  1. Academic performance
  2. Financial ability
  3. Community service and
  4. Extracurricular and non-academic activities
WHAT THE APPLICATION SHOULD INCLUDE

The scholarship applicant must furnish the following:
  1. A brief biography and statement of goals
  2. A transcript of the applicant’s high school record and PSAT and SAT scores
  3. An essay on any subject of the applicant’s choosing of not less than 500 nor more than 1,500 words
  4. Recommendations from three nonrelated persons, including:
    1. One from your high school principal, counselor, or other teacher who has known you personally for at least one entire school year (Name: ___________________);
    2. One from your current or former employer, or an adult who has known you and observed your skills for at least one year (Name: ________________________);
    3. One from ________________________.

    These three letters are to be sent directly to the Dr. H.A. Trippeer Charitable Foundation by their writers via e-mail or in a sealed, addressed envelope.
  5. Please prepare an itemized budget for your first college year. This budget will be helpful for us in making our decision and we will go through the budget together at the time of your interview.
